Hey!
Now that fall is here, and all knitters are casting on everything... it's really my happy place. I just love the crisp morning air, the leaves showing their true colours, and the smell of a fall rain. It's really just perfect...
We celebrated thanksgiving this past weekend, and Owen and I also ran races!
Though it's the most insane time of year for me to be preparing for a race, as my work load increases dramatically this time of year, I really wanted the experience of racing in the fall.... and I have to say, I love it! Owen did such a great job! He is one speedy little dude. :)
And now it's time to really buckle down and dive into the busy knitting season. I do have something to share with you soon!! Tell me, what have you cast on? Are you working on gift knitting? Selfish knitting? do tell!! xo

welcome fall. xo
It has certainly been quiet here on the blog. The main reason behind that is time. As many of you may be aware, our province, British Columbia is in the midst of a teacher's strike. The strike actually began last June, and as a result, the kids have been out of school for a while... This will be the second week now of the kids missing school, and I am doing my best to home-school.
So though the fall hasn't really started as we anticipated, we're making the best of it, and learning from home means a bit more "outdoor" learning too!
While home-schooling, I'm preparing for the very busy fall and winter ahead. I really do love this time of year (in fact, I'm pretty sure I need to have my first pumpkin spice latte of the season this week), it is probably my favourite. The crispness of the mornings, the smells of apples, and spice.... Bundling up with my favourite hand knits....
Of course, this means that it's my busiest time of the year! What with work knitting, customs, knitting classes, and hopefully a winter market, it will be a wonder if I can knit for myself! But I probably will. Because who needs sleep anyway?
I have also registered for another half marathon. I enjoyed the experience of the seawheeze so much, that I thought I'd try it again! This time the race is over thanksgiving weekend (the Canadian one, so second week in october), and I really think I'll more enjoy running in this type of weather.
Usually by this time of the year I'm chatting away about Knit City. Although this year, I won't be attending. It's ok though, I have a fantastic reason... it's hubby's and my 10th wedding anniversary! There will be more knit city's, but this year I'm thinking we might be sneaking away for a couple of nights. :) --- I promise to let you know what we do. :)
So thank you for being patient with me, while I figure out this whole balance thing. I honestly wish I had 72hrs in my day. In the meantime though, I know that this space is waiting for me whenever I can come by.
How are you? Any fall knitterly plans? Are you preparing for the holiday season yet? Are you in the same situation here, with trying to balance home-school while the teacher's are on strike? Have YOU had a pumpkin spice latte yet? Come chat! I've missed you, and I think a good sit down, with knitting needles in hand, is due. xo

My first half-marathon!
So this past weekend I crossed something off my bucket list.. I ran my first half marathon! I took the ferry over to Vancouver and got ready for the most fun weekend!
As far as firsts go, this one was amazing! I ran the seawheeze. It's an event hosted by Lululemon, and they really pull out all the stops! This event included heaps of awesome swag, and lots of yoga as well as a great concert by Capital Cities to boot!
It was such a beautiful route! Over 11kms of the run was waterfront. Stunning! And part of the race took me right past my old apartment. So it really was a trip down memory lane for me. It was so amazing to be a part of something so big, and with so much encouragement! Quite a few of us from the Island went together, and it was so awesome to share this experience with friends. xo I stayed in beautiful English Bay, which was perfect as it was walking distance to the race... and it just so happened to be across the water from my old digs. Oh nostalgia!
All of those tents that you see is for Bard On the Beach. And the tall building you see peeking out of the trees to the left is my old place! It's the only tri-pod looking building in Kits. The route took us down this street in front of where I'm snapping the pic too.. Oh so fun!
I'm pretty proud of myself, and I really had the best time! Registration will be opening for next year's seawheeze on Sept. 10th! This one sells out fast, so if you want to run it register first thing! I promise, you'll love this event! xo
In fact, I had so much fun with it that I'm registering for another half that's taking place here in Victoria in October! I'm so looking forward to having my hubby and little man there to cheer me on this time.
Now to try to find that routine we're all lacking ;) Tell me, how was your weekend? xo

hi there summer!
Thank you so much for your amazing, kind words. :) i really do love to be in this place, and share with you...
this past week was a full one. my hubby came home from sea on thursday, to a very busy weekend! i ran the navy 10k. (first race in a year!) and owen ran the kids fun run. we also had t-ball closing ceremonies. what? t-ball is already over? that went by fast! so you can bet that if i had an opportunity to sit and knit, i did...
this is the perfect start to summer, don't you think?
though unfortunately, early this morning the little man and i took daddy to work as he's gone to sea again for 2 more weeks...
we've stocked up at the library, and the lego movie has arrived from gran.... so hopefully this momma can get the work knitting done so we can go and play!
tell me, how was your weekend? what do you have planned for this week? xo

proud moments
i apologize for the big silence yesterday, but our weekend was as full as ever! sunday both owen and i had races to run, and then off quick to a bday party, then zooming along after that to a bbq! i kind of needed the quiet yesterday.
we are actually headed away for holidays on wednesday night until the next week (wednesday) it's our first trip of the summer, and we're looking forward to seeing family. this trip we're headed to alberta. we aren't headed into calgary this time. (thankfully we don't have to deal with the flooding, but also i feel so much heartache for the devistation for the city...) instead we're flying into edmonton, but we'll actually be camping most of the trip i think.
as owen gets older, spending time with cousins is so very important.. and we live so far away from them! we're really excited to spend time with the newest addition to the family. owen's little cousin ethan. guys. trust me. he's cuuuuuuute! and has so. much. hair! i love it!
the fact that we'll be out at the campground most of the time doesn't guarentee me any wifi though to pop in for posts... so i'm not sure how often if at all i can be here... i do promise to take heaps of pics... and guys, you know i'll be getting epics amount of knitting done. a serious metric buttload of knitting. and here's an exciting point, a lot of this knitting i'll be able to show you!! wahoo!
my needles will be on fire! yes of course, i'll still be busy with other things, but i love that knitting is so portable and that with a lot of projects, i don't really have to look at what i'm doing.... so yippee!!!
but would you like to see my really proud mama moment from the weekend?
ever since i started running again, owen has been my biggest supporter, and encourager... and i couldn't ask for a better cheerleader. (apart from my hubby) those two are awesome. and when owen asked to run in a race, i was more than excited for him. i think he was kind of terrified at the sound of the horn. hahah but he did so well! yes. i'm a very proud mommy.
so today i'm trying to finish some projects that should be completed before our trip... and getting ready to pack some yummy yarn for other knits! what are you working on today? any exciting plans for summer travel? come chat! i've missed you! xo

june!?
it's going to be a little crazy this week, as my man is working nights, so we're trying to pack all of our fun little errands in the morning. haha. and i totally wasn't prepared for it today, and this is why the post is so late.
my weekend was lovely, but a quick one! tell me, why is it that weekends always go by in a blurr? hahah. though i didn't get quite as much knitting done as i wanted, i was able to spend lots of time outdoors. i had a lot of fun on the run. owen and les were the best supporters! and i've already registered for another race!
it's only 3 weeks away, i'll be doing a 10k and owen will be doing a fun run. it's his first race, and he's so very excited!
i can hardly believe that we're already into june!! i've got lots of knitterly goals... let's hope i reach them! and of course, i'll share them with you too :) first up that pendulum has to be done by the 7th! can i do it?
what was your weekend like? i'd love to know how you're doing! tell me, what's on your needles? and what are your summer plans? xoxoo
