drooling here...

if you are a follower of yarny things, particularly knitting on pinterest... well you've probably noticed a trend in cardigans. yep. i'm talking about them again. i had sooo much fun with the KAL hosted by my pal shannon of luvinthemommyhood, that i'm already thinking cardi's again :)

brooklyn tweed... you've heard of him, right? of course you have.... well he's just come out with an incredible release of fall patterns. soooo lovely, smooshy, cosy, full of colour.. well you get the idea. i'm drooling here. no kidding.

here are my top two faves... and there is no coincidence that they just might be the same colour... and maybe also in the same colour family as my rae.. no.. no coincidence at all.

this sweater, the peabody is designed by leila raabe. i know it's not a cardi, but ohhh it's a nice sweater!!! i love love the detail of it! seriously, isn't it gorgeous!!! i can soooooo see myself wearing this. i love the balance of lacework and stockinette. it's really something i feel like could be worn both casually and to dress up a little....  and it really doesn't look all that difficult! what do you think?

and the other??

i've had my eye on an "old man sweater" totally forgive me for this choice of wording, but i think you know what i mean, right? i think this is lovely...  the pattern is tinder, by jared flood. well now, you can't go wrong can you? this is stunning in such a simple way! i want to wear this now.
now realistically, i can't afford the yarn recommended.. but i'm sure that before long, i'll see some wonderful substitutes! one day, when i get a chance to knit with shelter yarns. ... i promise you'll probably be one of the first to know!! :)

want to see more of this line? jared flood came out with  a webzine just yesterday!!! go check it out!! (but then come back)

and your thoughts? well i'm honestly dying to know!!!! let's have a cozy sweater chat, shall we?

how are you doing today? has the fall weather kicked in for you? are you in sweater mode? what are your faves? i'm waiting on you!!! can't wait to chat. xo

  1. Oh, I completely understand! Ever since Shannon’s KAL I’ve been obsessed with sweaters and cardi’s. I’ve doubled my list of must-knits, and when I saw Jared Flood’s Webzine yesterday I freaked! I love his stuff, even though to be honest I have not yet attempted any of his patterns, I am not sure I am “advanced” enough, but now….. I really like the Bedford sweater, but Topiary, Nero, Rosebud, Ashby…are beautiful as well, I mean where do you even begin????
And I agree, a little costly, but they do look stunning. I am trying desperately to find a good yarn to use for the Rocky coast cardi, so far no luck. Any suggestions???

  2. monica- i loooove the rocky coast cardi! i love everything in that series! honestly, i need an unlimited supply of gorgeous yarn, and time beyond time.. not to mention speedy knitting hands ;)

what is your fave yarn? the rocky cardi calls for a worsted. there are some yummy ones out there for sure! lately i've been spending time on the knitpicks site! have you been on there? they've got some nice yarns at affordable prices. and quite a few worsted ones too...
hrmmm i'm gonna keep thinking though :)
as for all of brooklyntweed's patterns.. the only one i've attempted is the noro striped scarf... but i'm totally going to knit more of his patterns this season! such talent.

  3. Oh yes Knits and Crochet are all the rage right now in NYC. They are everywhere! So many friends are asking for gifts to go with the trend. That sweater is gorgeous. But, I prefer Cardis...hmmm...any way to convert it to a cardigan?

  4. wowza rebecca! you're adventurous! have you done steeking before? i haven't yet.. but i know that's usually the way to convert sweaters that were knit in the round into a cardi. i think Norwegian sweaters are traditionally knit in the round and then steeked. ....something i need to try soon!
i haven't even read the patterns for these sweaters, so i couldn't say specifically for them what to do... steeking was just the fist thing that came to mind :)

  7. You know, I don't yet have a favorite yarn. But I will be checking out the website. I was thinking of trying Quince & Co maybe? I've ordered their little sample booklet. I don't want to rush my choice.

I started the Octopus cowl in the blue sweet Georgia but I'm really not so sure about it. I think I will need some knit night advice :)

  11. I really love the Peabody sweater too! It incorporates everything that I like in a pattern, something of interest with a lot of stockinette! ;) Definitely adding this to the queue!

I've never actually knit a Jared Flood garment, only the Turn A Square hat, but I'm really curious to try. I think I will be knitting one soon for a Christmas present though. I guess a Jared Flood creation for me will have to wait just a little bit longer!
