run!

hurrah for the weekend! spirits are high in this household! which is very good because we've got a busy weekend ahead ;) i'm starting out with a little baking, because weekends deserve it. ;) we'll do a little sweet and a little savory. it's gonna smell good here! ;)

we'll be taking a small road trip to go pick up the hubs. (and then back again the following day.. ) our visit will have to be a short one this weekend but we're still excited to see him!

also this weekend i'm going to do something i've never done before. i'll be running my first 5k! i'm  excited... and nervous. my goal isn't to be super fast (thank goodness) but to finish it. the last 9 weeks i've been running three times a week, and i've gotta say, i'm a little impressed with myself. i don't usually stick to a "workout" very long. but this time seems to be different. and i'm enjoying it! i get half an hour to myself, to listen to my tunes, and to be with my thoughts. which is a treat when the hubs has to be away, and it's just me and the kiddo all day, every day ;) i'm sure you mamas out there know what i'm talking about.
don't get me wrong, owen is the sweetest boy, but mamas need a little break sometimes too.

so i'll keep you posted on how that goes, but i'm just really excited that i'm doing it. ;)
and let's not forget knit night! i certainly love me my knitting time with my girls. i've got several projects on the "to-do" list.
i'm gonna be an auntie again sometime this month, so i've gotta get busy! i'm thinking some pixie hats are on the list :) (to start anyways)

i believe a little knitting with linen will be involved as well ;)

so tell me. what are your weekend plans? anything exciting? will you be a busy bee like me? or will you have a chance to relax and feel rejuvenated? i'd love to hear what you're up to! come and chat! the baking is about to go in the oven, and i've got lots of coffee. xo

  2. How exciting that you'll be doing your first 5k. I'm a runner, too, and have run several 5ks -- love them as I find they're just the right distance. Good luck and have a wonderful weekend. I'll be running around quite a bit also -- two trips into New York City and a lot of knitting. I must finish my cardigan!

  4. I hope you had a fantastic race. My first 5k got me hooked on running - it's very addictive. Especially that time to yourself aspect.
