sleep?

i did a crazy thing. i stayed up past one a.m to read. hahah it may not sound so crazy, but it is for me, because i usually loose sleep to knit... not to read. (unless it's while i'm knitting). ;)

and it's not even a book about knitting. (ha). but i certainly got lost in it. and i bet you've heard of it. it's "the hunger games trilogy" by suzanne collins
am i right? have you heard of it?

i'll be starting the second book shortly...  but if i can just figure out how to prop the book open so i can knit at the same time... honestly, haha i'm loosing precious knitting time here! ;)
and speaking of knitting...

a number of things have been flying off of the needles! so i'll soon have several things to share with you. :) stay tuned for wednesday's post on our "warm up to winter" kal with luvinthemommyhood.... ;) there also might be a sweater... (or two!) to show you...  honestly, i just cast on for another one last night... :) and i've got a little pressie in the works for you.

how have you been? i've missed you all! any good books on your shelves these days? what's on your needles? i'm here to chat, and the coffee is good. especially today, because it's monday. ;) xo

  2. Oohhh...I've got that series down in audiobooks but haven't started listening to them yet. I haven't mastered the art of knitting while reading. So audiobooks it is for me! ;)

    1. it reeeeeaaaaally depends on what i'm knitting for me to read at the same time.... but i did knit one sweater while reading harry potter's book 3. haha yoga helps what with propping the book open while keeping my yarn from getting tangled.. so i'm kind of working out too... right? lol. ps. you should TOTALLY start listenting to the stories. xo

  3. I started the audio book of the hunger games yesterday and I'm already on cd 3. I hadn't read anything about it before I started so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was kind of shocked!

  6. I need to learn the trick to reading and knitting at the same time. I've tried audio and unless it's a pretty mindless pattern I tend to loose my place in either the book or the knitting.

    1. yes i find that a stockinette sweater (or garter)... in the round does the trick.. just the body alone is mindless... :) i knit the hourglass pullover while reading.. pretty easy. i bet you could do it! xo

  7. I just got Hunger Games on my Kindle. The hubs is on night rotation so I can indulge my night owl/morning person ways (yes, I am both...who needs sleep?!) without feeling guilty for keeping the light on all night.
I messed up the increases on the Raglan pullover with some overconfident/multitasking knitting, so I'll just stick to one thing at a time for now. That's just me, though. I'm sure you'll figure out a way to make it happen, and more power to ya!
So jealous of your yarny trip coming up, wish I could just hop on a plane to join you! someday...

  8. Ooh, that trilogy was addictive. I read all three books in three days. Granted, I was sick at the time, so I really didn't have anything better to do.

I wish I could read and knit at the same time! I've tried. I've failed.

  10. Have you ever tried using a cookbook stand? I actually don't have one but it just might work. I do have a music stand that has little metal thingys that help hold down the pages for the music so that could work too for holding your book.

I've heard about these books but well, I'm so far behind on books I still haven't read Harry Potter or the Twilight series. Oh well, someday right?

  11. eeks buffy! get reading. haha like you have time with 5 kids underfoot. hahah. i did have a music stand kicking around a lifetime ago. i should get one again. that would be a good idea. i've often thought about it...but i'm trying to figure out how to just prop it under my knee. haha. i like to make things hard for myself it seems ;) xo

    1. What about bean bags? You could prolly knit up a few and then place them strategically on your knee and around your book.

As for the reading...I know I should already. Perhaps I'll look for them on CD...
