... and then i did the math....

most of you who know me also know that i tend to set the bar pretty high for myself. it's just what i do. haha. so when i thought that for the "pour moi" kal i would knit up pendulum i thought, sure! no biggie... shawl knitting is fun... and quick... (wha?) haha. i probably hadn't had my morning coffee yet.

anyhoo, i've been loving the process of knitting the pendulum. and i look forward to each colour change. my plan was just go ahead and knit until i ran out of yarn... then i did the math.

the pattern calls for about 570 yds of yarn. and guess how much i have? 860yds. ummm that's a lot more! a lot!!! and i've been telling myself i could still have it done by the deadline... which is june 7th, people. on 3.5mm needles at that...

i know what you're thinking.... and you can just stop laughing at me. no. go ahead. it's deserved. haha. i'm nutso. but the shawl is soooo pretty. and bigger is better, right?
or should i just make some socks with the leftovers. (short ones). what do you think?

honestly. i'd love to know :) xo

have you had lofty goals in a way you thought were really just no big deal? and then you wake up one morning and actually do the math? lol.. tell me i'm not the only one, please! xoxo

  1. End Pendulum when you're supposed to, and go to a 22.5 degrees, or a feather and fan scarf in two colours...Or Baktus...or....Save the leftovers for another rainy day..That's what I would do!

    1. i'll only be left with just over 300yds i believe... so it's not enough to do a shawl... hrmm :) xo

  2. Make socks!! I think PurlBee has a free anklet pattern that uses a contrast colour at the top and toe. You could do that!

  3. Or you'd have enough for my very favourite knit item: fingerless gloves. Oh oh oh how lovely they'd be in the colours you have!

  4. I think you should knit on your pendulum until 11:45pm on June 6, then bind off and see what you have left. : )

  5. I say socks with the leftovers. Or maybe a hat. Or mittens. Or a small lacy shawlette! I'm a sucker for a lacy shawlette in place of a scarf...

    1. lacey shawlettes are yummy for sure! i thought i might need more yardage for one though?

    2. it'd be a bit close for yardage, but with the right pattern it could work. you could try the small version of the gardener's shawl since you already have two colors or maybe a small autumn flutters in stripes. :)

  6. I would say stop when you are suppose to and save the yarn for striped socks or something like that.
