yarn, yarn, and more yarn... :)

so while i was in calgary, i had a chance to meet up with mamajay from house full of jays again. the crafting world is so amazing... and i love that blogging has allowed me to meet some of my online friends in person! i met up with rachel back in september while we both happened to be holidaying up island, and it was a real treat! rachel actually posted about her yarns and our date.. and has better photos :) you should check her post!

this time we planned on a little lys shopping and tea :) . we headed to the loop. i wish that i had taken pictures of the actual knitting store. lol i'm so horrible with picture taking... but trust me. it's a cute store! check out their site for photos :) we actually stayed in there several hours... chatting lots yes, but also painstakingly choosing such lovely yarns! here's what i snagged:

so pretty hey? these yarns are  raventwist. they were originally made under the name rocky mountain dyeworks. these yarns are dyed in banff, alberta... and i just love the colours! don't you? all three skeins are torc. they're light fingering, with high twist. my colours i've chosen are djinn, scherazade, and black isles. just so pretty! told you i was in a bit of a fingering weight kick... i was even eying a lot of the lace yarn! i'm not completely certain yet what i'll knit with them, but there are a few contenders... i'm loving shawls lately. which is interesting as i never pictured myself as a shawl girl... i wouldn't wear it old lady style... nope, just wrapped around my neck like a scarf... it must be this downton kal thing. and speaking of which.. i am so so bad!! i still haven't cast on a project for it let alone picked a pattern! but i am soooo stubborn (you can thank my oma for that) i will cast on a project and do my best to finish or get as close as possible before the end date... (which happens to be the same date as the fair!)
but we all know i work best under pressure...

and speaking of which....i'm supposed to be working on market knitting. i can't believe how quickly the time is coming!!! i'm trying something new to my booth this time around, and i'm introducing some high end knits... and i have to say i'm absolutely loving knitting with the madtosh yarns. seriously! but now i'm trying to choose a colour for the final cowl.... what do you think??

i apologize for the photo not being properly edited.. it seems i have some several hours of computer clean up to do as well... but the colours of yarn listed from left to right as you see them are:
all are tosh dk yarns... tart, duchess, mineral, silver fox, fathom, tern, and burnished.
as some of you can probably guess, it's for the arbutus cowl... by the lovely jane richmond... and your input would be greatly appreciated! xoxo

so now i'm having to organize my stock for the fair... and hopefully make a more productive office for myself. i'm pretty sure i organized this space right at around christmas or something... and now it's a disaster all over again. hahah. and i am one of those people who really does concentrate better when there is order around me.

so there are my weekend plans... heaps of knitting, teaching, and office organizing... let's squeeze in a soccer game and as many cuddles as i can get from my boy who is growing up quicker than i'm ready for.. :) what are you up to this weekend? any exciting knitting? i'd love to hear about it? i've got a pot of one of my fave coffees on right now... come chat! xoxo

I would knit the last cowl in tern...i feel like it would be the most universally appealing.

  2. Wow, look at you!! You're on quite the yarn shopping spree! :) I need to live through you!

Glad you had an awesome time in Alberta and that you got to visit a yarn shop! Nice haul too! I'm absolutely loving the idea of seeing Burnished being turned into an Arbutus cowl. Something about the variegation in garter....it will look gorgeous! If you're not feeling the Burnished, then my second choice is definitely Duchess. The semi-tonal in that colourway....yum!!

Man, I'm dying here to cast on for something new! Again, I'm going to live vicariously through you, ok? ;)

  6. I love the duchess.... it seems that everyone has different opinions! Haha! I think it would contrast the two you already made in a display quite nicely?

Have a great weekend! I hope to get a whole bunch of projects done as well! :)~Stephanie

PS - I finally got your blog to work in bloglovin. Yay for me!

  7. I say either the red or the mint green or the neon blue color would work. See, I can't make a decision for you either lol they're all so pretty.
