new season, new do.

i did something yesterday that i haven't done in a very very long time. i went to the hair salon. i had very, very long hair. and when my hair got caught in my coat sleeve, i knew that it had to go. haha . and i bet most of you didn't even realize how long my hair was because i always wore it back!
so one of my besties shannon sent me to lab, to see ashley. and let me tell you, she is fabulous! i can see why she's been raved about so much!
i knew i was in good hands.
so to give you an idea of what i brought to work with....

see? i told you! that's about 28" of hair.
so i was pretty happy to be going to the salon. let's just say that. :) and we didn't lose any time...

yikes. that's a lot of hair. haha. but i really like what i've got now... and i knew i would.

yeah, this will be much easier to manage. that is for sure. :) and i can actually wear my hair down without worrying about the worst tangles! as for all of that hair we cut off? i'm going to try to donate it. i know it could be used for a very good cause.  so i've got it all ready to be sent off :) and i have absolutely no regrets.

i have to send a huge thank you to ashley. and i wish you the best time ever on your super awesome trip. so so not jealous here... ;) just remember to come back, because there's a posse of us knitters who need you. and thanks to my girls who encouraged this big step...xo

have you done a drastic cut before? the bonus with this style is that i can still wear it back... if i wanted to... so if you'll excuse me, time to rock spring with my new do. and drink more coffee... xo

it's go time.

less than two weeks until all sprung out!

 i didn't do any market crafting this past weekend (but of course, i was at fibers west!) and i'll tell you about that soon. i promise. so i've got to be in full on panic crafting mode! i've got a game plan though, and i hope to complete it! my biggest concern right now is just on the display. and of course how to fit in 25hrs of knitting and crocheting in a 24hr day... (what? sleep? eating? actually parenting?) ha no i'm kidding, clearly. but i do have a full plate. i just know april will be here in the blink of an eye.

i have a feeling i'll be drinking a lot of coffee ;)

wanna know what else makes this weekend awesome? the hubs is coming home! no more sea time (for a little while anyways)...

i'm headed on a girls trip to the mainland to go to fibers west! can i get a WAHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! i have never. ever. been to a yarn festival before, and it's been something that i've wanted to do for a very ... very long time.. i am also super excited that i get to go with some of my closest friends. :)

we are even spending the night there. i'm so excited to go, but i'll miss my little man. i haven't been away from him much before... and two days straight is a lot... but it's so good that i'm going...  and i hope that i find some goodies ;)
i can hardly contain myself today! seriously. it is a very. very. good day!
now let's hope i can move this energy into a productive craft session, clean up the house so the hubs can't have a full understanding of how crazily adorned with yarn this house is... (lol).... and go pick him up. i just hope i can figure out which projects need yarn the most, or my poor bank account will be upset with how much is allocated to yarn. thank goodness for ravelry.

this calls for a happy dance. a very happy dance indeed.

super-speed knitting

oh goodness it was a late night last night :) i bet you can guess what i've been up to though... ahaha yes, yes i was crafting away... and now i have to do even more knitting!!

 my sweet sister and her hubby welcomed their little boy into the world late last night, ontario time. this is their first baby... and i am more than excited for them!

and so of course, serious knitting must be underway now... super-speed, actually.... and i'm hoping we can plan a family visit to ontario. sigh, let's hope for a very successful craft show, shall we? ;)

it's a rainy day here, and i've got some plans to spend the day with my little man. he's been so patient with all of the yarn strewn about the place... mommy's ridiculious need to be hooked up to a coffee cup, all. the. time, and i owe him... big time.

under 48 hrs!

it's crunch time, and i'm layin' it on thick... my work, i mean... but now i want some kind of peanut butter bar after writing that.. ha. i've been working hard here preparing for another craft market. i have just 18 days left to produce for "All Sprung Out". eeks!

and so there' s nothing like deadlines to give me incentive.
i think you already know that i can be obsessive when it comes to working with yarn and needles, or hooks as the case may be. call it the dutch in me, or just me being insane... but when i get a project on the brain, and i want it done fast... i'm fairly determined.

so yep. i made this in under 48 hrs. i believe that is a record. and not something i could necessairly do on a consistent basis (because then i'd really have no life). but i love the outcome, and i'm surprisingly not so tired today.
i managed to get other things done too... and owen did get my attention :) 

this is meant to be a lap blanket of sorts. i remember when owen was wee, and i had to bundle him up in the stroller or the car seat.. it was so annoying to have to wrap blankets around his little legs. and then i'd not notice him kicking them off.. and the corner of the blanket would come out from under his chubby little legs, and get caught in the wheel of the stroller. oh goodness. it broke my heart when i once put a hole in a handmade blanket. not cool. not cool at all.
so with this size, you wouldn't have to worry about it.

this is loosely based on the other blanket i made.. do you remember my spring flowers blanket?
you can also see my ravelry notes on that blanket here.  it was bigger...and did take me longer (i promise).

and nothing screams spring better than these lovely flowers!
i think it works for both a boy or a girl. i personally love these colours.

ps. i do realize that my label isn't sewn fully on... i have a confession... the needle broke as i was trying to sew, and i honestly don't know what i'm doing when it comes to switching out needles on my machine. yikes. thankfully i've got lots of girlfriends who do know what to do in this situation... sooo i'm waiting on one of them showing me. haha.  

so now i'm off to continue my happy dance, and get more crafting done. i want my table looking full of lovely springy things ;) besides it's good prep for yet another market in the summer ;)

blustery day

it's a very windy day here for us today! we're under some heavy wind warnings out on the west coast of british columbia. already the lights have been flickering on and off... so i'm not sure how much power we'll have throughout the day.. let's hope it stays on though!

how was your weekend? was it a crafty one?
this past weekend was like christmas for me! yep. our knit night groups' big ol' yarn order came in! wahoo! here's my haul. i've never ordered yarn online before. i like to be able to feel the yarn before i buy it. but i have to say, i'm not disappointed at all! i immediately swatched and cast on for a project  within the hour of receiving the wool. seriously, that excited!

i'm loving the swish dk. it's sooo soft!

i snagged a couple of skeins of the stroll tonal sock yarn too. aren't the colours just lovely?

and in other crafty news, i've been a productive little bee. the boys went on a movie date on sunday leaving mama at home to craft away, and i gotta tell ya, not a minute was wasted! here's a peek...

i even snuck in a couple of loaves of bread! oh yah, the house smelled lovely... even if covered in scraps of yarn when they came home. ha.

this is our last week with the hubs at sea, so here's hoping it goes by quickly, and is as productive as the weekend was! i'd better get this post up before the power is out all together! and then grab those candles.
