hitchhiker love!

Ok. So if you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen this gorgeous skein in my feed...


Do you remember it?  I actually started this lovely project just before I got really sick. And I knew it was meant to be a hitchhiker. Especially after I cast on. lol!



Anyways, talk about another addictive knit!! Even though Wollmeise offers such massive skeins, (like are talking 574 yards here!) this project knit up pretty quickly.... I love that I never had an overwhelming amount of stitches on the needles, even though it produced a fairly large shawl!



I am seriously in love!

I do have a confession to make though..... this is actually the VERY first time I've knit with Wollmeise, AND this is my first time knitting a Martina Behm pattern!!!

Say what!!??!! She's actually been at the top of my ravelry queue for years, and many of her patterns are in my favorites... I really can't believe it's taken me this long to dive in! But I'm sure glad I did.



I definitely love that the hitchhiker works so well with hand dyed variegated yarns.
Here are the little details:

Yarn: Wollmeise We're different Pure. Colorway Libelle  (I think!! the sticker was covering it up, so if I'm wrong, please let me know.)
Needles: signatures (fixed) 3.25mm    (sadly, the fixed are no longer made..) 
Pattern: Hitchhiker by Martina Behm.

I absolutely LOVED knitting this! I definitely recommend both the designer and the yarn to anyone.

I realize I'm on a shawl kick... and I really don't see it stopping anytime soon ;) so tell me, what's on your needles?!

    Oh how beautiful and Spring-y!!! I have a pair of Grayling mittens in Madtosh Whiskers on my needles, as it snowed, again, last night in beautiful Ohio ;)

      Thank you Jamie! I'm so glad that knitters can knit year round. There is ALWAYS a reason to wear hand knits. I visited my sister in Virginia (not Ohio, I realize) but ever since I had heard the song Ohio by Over the Rhine, I've really wanted to go :) hee hee. xo oh and mittens in madtosh?! yes please!!

      haha! yah! I can't help it! I do have a little wollmeise here.. I've been "collecting" it for a few years... But I definitely see more in my future! xo

    Omg! The "Hitchhiker" looks amazing! :) :) :)

    I've also been on a bit of a shawl/scarf kick as well. I knitted up the "Bolt" by Veera Välimäki for my mum-in-law and a "Quite Simply..." scarf/shawlette by Kris Basta for my sister-in-law for their birthdays...

    On my needles right now I have another "Quite Simply..." scarf that i'm knitting up for myself in a fingering weight cotton. However... I did buy the "Quicksilver" by Martina Behm and the "McMilne" by Jane Richmond patterns that I'm dying to start! But I can't decide which to start first?!?!? Eep! :D

      Haha! Knitter's problems, deciding what to cast on first ;) I love it! I can't wait to see what you end up working on! I actually have a good pile of shawls that I've made over the years.. And my husband thought I should be giving some away. WHAT?! no. I just need better storage solutions. ;) xo

    I loved knitting my Hitchhiker and seeing yours reminds me that I should cast that pattern on again this spring. Yours is gorgeous!

    It must be the time of year, as I find everyone is knitting shawls/wraps. I just finished a modified version of Purl Bee's Dovetail wrap. I used a worsted weight yarn instead of super bulky and achieved a light airy shawl that I wanted. Currently I am working on Jane Richmond's mustard scarf. I cast on double the amount of stitches and am knitting until I reach 50+inches. I thought this would make a great rectangular wrap.

      Hi Abbie! Ohhh I just looked up the Dovetail wrap! That looks so squishy and cozy! I bet your version is also amazing!! Are you doing the Mustard Scarf in a yellow colour too? xo
