bring on the weekend.

this has been a busy week for us! heaps of knitting done, including the finishing of these socks!!!

aren't they pretty. they're for the "socks with sarah kal" though i have to admit, i'm pretty horrible at keeping to my word in this kal. i am supposed to be knitting on socks every day... that just isn't happening. i am happy that socks are eventually getting finished though! so even though it's taking me longer than probably everyone else, i have another pair!
yippeee!!!!
i did my usual with these socks. 2.00mm needle, magic loop... and pattern taken from the gusset heel basic socks. by wendy d. johnson. see my rav notes here if you'd like.
i'm pretty happy with the result. and i have heaps left over. hmmm i'm thinking maybe a pair of baby legwarmers ?? that might be cute!!

as for this weekend, i couldn't be more ready for it. like i said, this has been a very busy week for us... and it's not over for my hubby.... he's got to go to sea tomorrow.... but only for a couple of days....i've been uber productive! so i say bring on the weekend!! i got myself a little treat... it's madtosh sock. in "twain" i've never knit with it before! kind of exciting! xo

i think it's time for some serious "me" knitting.... and probably some decent work on my mom's blanket. yesssss....

tell me, what are your weekend plans? are you participating in the socks with sarah kal? how are you making out? xo

baby baby

it seems that there are a lot of babies being born.... i'm just sayin'. ;)

so of course this means more gift knitting... and really there's nothing like a quick, satisfying baby knit! seriously. instant gratification!

this is a cute little toque and baby leg warmers set. the toque is based on this pattern... i've since decided i don't like huge gaps between colour changing, so i decided to stripe it. i rather love the effect! of course it's no surprise i have a thing for stripes :)

i am still loving the 4x1 ribbing too. just a different look!
the legwarmers are by alana dakos. i've knit this pattern several times before... easy peasy, and fabulous results.

i so love this little set... and i know from past gifts of baby legwarmers to others, that these will fit babe for years to come. i love it!

do you have a quick go-to baby gift pattern? which is your fave? do you like to do a set?

smitten

today is a holiday for us in canada. it's so nice to have the hubby home an extra day... and hopefully this means i'll get more work done! lol.  so hard though when such fantastic patterns keep popping up!

i'm specifically talking about sweet jane by amy miller. have you seen it? here...

photo from ravelry.

ok. now you've seen it! i love the shape of this sweater!! oh how i love it. the drape is just fantastic, and the sweater itself is nice and light... knit with fingering weight yarn though, it would take a wee bit of time. :)

it's no big surprise i'm such a fan of amy's designs. i still constantly reach for my pendulum. and many of my queued items, as well as my favourited items include several of her designs.

clearly though, i'm smitten! i'm a little surprised at the amount of yardage i would need though! in fingering weight, i would need 5x skeins! that's heaps! usually with fingering weight yarns, i am good with 3 skeins..

hmmmm anyways... i sadly can't cast on for this right this minute.. (boo!) as work knitting keeps calling my name.. and my gift knitting somehow needs to get done too.. hahah.. but once i have my schedule all sorted out, including knitting for my winter market (say what?!) i will squeeze in a sweater for me....

tell me, what new patterns are popping up in your ravelry page? which have caught your eye? let's chat knitting! it's a perfect day for it, and i have my needles at the ready. xo

exciting future!

i had a lovely mothers day even though nothing huge was planned.. maybe that's why i loved it so much. i was able to nap, relax by the fire... knit a little... it was so lovely....

and now we are going to get back into routine and prepare for our summer! how does the time fly by so quickly? so crazy. i am excited to be able to share with you soon on a new endeavour, as well as a peek at my knitting "schedule" as it stands...

i feel so very blessed to be able to do what i adore for a living... though it means some serious scheduling and planning... and once i have it all in place, i can't wait to share it all with you!!

tell me, how was your weekend? were you spoiled, did you relax? i'd love to hear all about it! xoxo

good for the soul. xo

sometimes life passes us by in the blink of an eye and we completely forget to enjoy the now... i am so guilty of constantly planning ahead, and keeping an insanely busy schedule, that i actually surprised myself with just how much i needed yesterday's "soul-fill". i spent the day basically just enjoying the company of dear friends.

lucky me went out for both lunch and dinner... there was knitting, sunshine, coffees, amazing meals, wine and of course great company!

i hope you remember to take the time for you.. to allow your self to relax and enjoy lovely company... indulge a little this weekend.... you deserve it. xo

jardain is finally on ravelry!

a few years ago i designed some coasters which were featured on versus. as well as a mention in molly makes!!! .. i call the pattern jardain. it's been received well, and that makes me kinda proud. you can find the free tutorial here. and i'm happy to say jardain is now finally on ravelry! wahoo!

and now i have some news....   i'm working on another pattern! i really hope you like it... i kinda do! it actually came about me doing a custom for someone, and i ended up just making my own pattern along the way. so i've decided to put it to paper... it's not quite ready yet, though i may be looking for some testers, as i don't really know any tech editors that also cover crochet.... of course i'd appreciate all feedback i can get!!

have a happy day! xo
