calling in sick.....

my little man is home sick again today. kind of a surprise... he was feeling fine yesterday, and was so looking forward to pizza day today at school... but unfortunately, he seems to have woken up with a stomach bug...

so there will be lots of cuddles... probably a movie or two.. hopefully a nap.. (5am really is too early)...  coffee for mama, and lots of knitting....

tell me, what are you doing on this late February Tuesday? come chat!

best weekends!

it's about to be a whirlwind of a week for us! but i seem to thrive on being busy. this past weekend was so fun! i'm still pretty tired from it .... but that's what getting up at 4am does to you ;) it was worth it...

and i got some decent knitting in too! i was hoping to also have finished the second sock, however we had some unexpected snow, and a birthday party to attend.... so you know... i had to juggle... all in all... i'd say i had a fantastic weekend!!

tell me, how was your weekend? did you get up early to watch the game? any fun things on your needles? xo

happy weekend!

hurrah for the weekend! my kiddo has a pro d. day today, so our weekend has already started, and our jammies are still on :)

though i still have to teach tonight... (cowls class here we come!!!) i still plan on staying as comfortable in my pj's until i absolutely have to get dressed lol!

of course, i've been trying to watch some of the Olympics as well... i'm certainly proud of our group of men and women! and i'm not gonna lie, i'd LOVE to find some "Canada yarn" to make a lovely self striping sock.. wouldn't that be awesome???

what are your weekend plans? hopefully i'll have some more selfish knitting to show you after the weekend! xo

current crush....laneway

we've had some incredibly rainy and windy weather these past few days. i'm not complaining though, because i know we need the rain. and really, i love cozy-ing up with my needles and my favourite mug of tea... but i do have to admit, a few nice days thrown in just to enjoy some fresh air wouldn't be a bad thing either ;)

i am rather shocked that we're already nearing the end of february! seriously. how does the time pass so quickly? i should actually be stocking for my next winter's market already. of course, i have lots of other obligations that make it difficult to balance all of the things i should be knitting, and also fit in those "want knits". but i'm trying. i find that i've been more productive with work knitting when i make time for me knitting. you know?

it looks like always planning on having socks on the needles is a good idea. and so far it's been very workable. it's kind of fun deciding who the next pair will be for and what yarn i will be knitting with. i happen to have heaps of fingering weight yarn... but i also happen to be madly in love with shawls. so i'll clearly be busy with that...
but have you seen this??

ravelry photo. veera's pattern. laneway

veera has done it again. and i really want this dress. because it would be perfect for the spring and summer here. and i would wear it all.the.time. because this is definitely "me". weee! stripes!!
so can you see my problem here? why aren't there more hours in the day?? hahahah...

tell me, what are you currently crushing on? any new patterns floating around there that you have to knit?!do share, let's increase our queue's ten-fold. xo

a weekend of selfish knitting means progress!

hellooooo!!! how was your weekend? mine was fantastic. my boys spoiled me. xooxo

i was also able to spend lots of time doing selfish knitting! love those weekends.
i've got one sock down! yesss! i have to say i'm really surprised by this yarn. it really was one of those skeins i thought i'd never knit with. turns out socks are the perfect match for it.

also, i've been making some fantastic progress on my line break shawl! and i'm loving it.

but now it's back to reality, and appointments, and to-do lists. oh weekend, why are you so short?!
i'd love to know what's on your needles!! come chat. xo

from the deep

well it has been uber quiet in this space. my poor little dude had a combination of the flu and an ear infection last week. so not fun. and of course, mama is feeling under the weather,... over the weekend i was able to catch up on some much needed sleep....(10:30!!) however sadly, i don't feel much more rested... so clearly, i'm fighting something nasty... at least i get lots of knitting time!
today is family day here in bc. my man has to work, so it's just me and owen today... i think we'll milk this last day before he's back in school....

but speaking of knitting... i have actually been working away on a pair of socks! i'm thinking i just might sign up for the socks with sarah kal. ... even if i am a little late in joining... i just love the idea of always having socks on the go... and really, my stash is mostly fingering weight single skeins... ha.
so i dug down deep in the stash and came up with a skein i thought i probably would never knit with. but michael's surprises me sometimes! i'm kinda totally liking how this is knitting up! it's actually lion brand sock ease. the colour way is taffy i believe.

though i do have to focus on work knitting now.. (so hard when i just want to work away on these!) but it's something to look forward to in the evenings!

how was your weekend? are you celebrating family day today? come chat. i've missed you! xo

an update..

just a quick little update for you.... my little man has an ear infection :( he was so disappointed to have missed his school field trip yesterday. but a fever of 104 and fluid behind the eardrum tells us he had to stay home... he's on antibiotics now, and is resting...

so hopefully this momma can get some knitting done today! oh and if you follow me on instagram, or facebook, you might have already seen it. but just in case, look!!!

i'm soo soooooo excited!! love this sweater to bits already! once our household is feeling better i promise to get better pics and i'll do a proper post about it. xo

what's on your needles today? xo

under the weather....

we had a tough weekend here! my poor little bub was sick with a high fever of 103 for the whole weekend... he woke up early this morning. (like before 5am early) and then dozed until about 6:15 when he promptly decided he was very hungry and wanted to play. and there was no fever! hurrah! so he's back in school today, ....

good thing too, because now my skin is all tingly and sore :( oh dear. hopefully it passes quickly. i have stuff to do!!

at any rate... if things are a little quiet on the blog in the next couple of days, you'll know why.

tell me, what's on your needles? with owen feeling under the weather, and movie marathons happening... i managed an f.o! i promise to share with you soon!! xo
